Wednesday's Adorned From Above Link Party On Hold

Hi Everyone,

I am so very sorry, but I need to put Adorned From Above's Link Party on hold until after the first of 2015.  I have been trying so hard to be able to do the party, but our move to Florida, is a lot more work then I had anticipated.  We have 20 something years of accumulation and it is taking a lot of time to go through everything.  I have spent weeks throwing things in the trash, donating, and packing, and it seems like I haven't even made a dent.  We are going from 3600 square feet down to 1900 square feet, so it feels quite daunting right now.  My office is what I am most worried about.  I am donating lots of fabric and I haven't even gotten to the yarn yet.  I felt sad giving away a lot of my sewing, knitting, and  decorating books, but I really need to pare down what I have.

I had so many wonderful posts that I wanted to share with all of you, and I think those are going to have to wait also.

I hope that you will all join me when I start the party again.  I will be living in a place where if feels like summer all year round.  That should be fun.  Especially since we have had some pretty cold weather in Denver already this year.

I will really miss seeing all of your posts,  but I can't wait to see what the new year brings all of us.

So for right now I am wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, a Happy Hannukah, a Merry Christmas, and a Very Happy New Year.

Until January.

Wednesday's Adorned From Above Link Party 100

I want to thank everyone who shared with Wednesday's Adorned From Above Link Party 99.  We love seeing all of your posts.

Sorry the party is up late and thank you so much for your patience with not have the party for a few weeks.  It is up late, because we have been furniture shopping for days.  Here is a look at a few of the thing that we bought.  Some pieces I need to do something with.  I'm just not sure what yet.

I love my new lacquer bar.  It is so pretty, I just have to clean it up a little bit at the bottom.  I am going to have to do some research first, because it looks like it has been bumped with a vacuum quite a bit and I have never worked with lacquer before.  I'm not even sure if the bottom was lacquered.

I also like the entertainment center.  We have had the TV on a tiny, little, cheap table from Target, so I am excited to actually have a piece of furniture in the living room.

The other thing we bought is the buffet for the dining room.  I needs to have something done to it.  I love the lines and design, but it is very orange, and doesn't go with the rest of the house or the furniture in the dining room.  It has a piece of marble on top, which is really pretty, but I think I either need to paint and distress the piece or maybe white wash it.  I'm just not sure.  If you have any suggestions, I would love your recommendations.  I will do it sometime in January, when I have a little more time, so I would really love some help from all of you furniture people out there.  If I don't hear from you I may email you for help.

Dear God Note 9

For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Act_1:5

But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Act_1:8

And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act_2:4

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness.
Act_4:31

Hi Everyone,
I know it's been a while, and it has been a long haul for us.  We are presented with so many different issues in life, and I guess how we handle them can make all of the difference in the world.

First I want to thank everyone for their prayers and heartfelt notes.  My neck is slowly getting better, which is wonderful.  A miracle from God.   Our house and cars will slowly recover from the hail storm we had in Denver last month.  There are good things like the house will be repainted and new siding will be put on.  Which are good, but the roof has to be replaced, which sounds great, except we just replaced it in July, but I guess two new roofs in a year is better then no roof at all.  My car will be fixed, David's is totaled, so not sure what we are doing there, but life is good.  We are all healthy and happy and that is the most important thing.

The parties will start again on Tuesday, I'm excited.  My blog posts will be sporatic as I get ready for more changes in my life.  We are moving to the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida right after Christmas and I am trying to pack up our house and get ready for that.

As I write this post I am listening to a song call These Are The Words I Would Say by Sidewalk Prophets.  It is so fitting for today.  I have been pretty worried about moving someplace where I don't know anyone, but I have really been praying and asking God for guidance and today I found a church, and I am really excited.  It is called The Harbour Church at the Broward Ministry Center in Pompano Beach.  I am so in awe of what God does in our lives.  The worship music was amazing and the sermon was so anointed that I could feel God all over me.  This morning when I found the church I asked God to let me know if this is where I am supposed to be, and he let me know loud and clear that it was.  I am so very grateful.

I love hearing from all of you and again, thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers over this trying time.
Have a blessed week.

Warby Parker Affilliates Wanted

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links

Attention all bloggers - have you heard of Warby Parker? They are an up-and-coming company that sells awesome designer eyewear, both prescription and sun. Warby Parker believes that buying glasses should be easy and fun. It should leave you happy and good-looking, with money in your pocket. In addition to their many collaborations with celebrities to produce fashion forward eyewear, they also believe that everyone has the right to see. For every pair sold, a pair is given to someone in need. Now this very progressive company is looking for new affiliates to join their program. You can earn commissions on sales and leads. Just sign up for their program and you can start promoting right away!

This is a great company that I really believe in.  I love working with them and they are a great company to work with.  I also love their philosophy and that they give back.  For every pair of glasses sold they also donate a pair, which is amazing.  If you look at my picture, you see that I wear glasses.  I am considered legally blind without glasses, so for me they are a necessity.  I am fortunate enough that I can buy glasses, but I was not always able to do this.  I really love that this program helps other get a pair of glasses if they can not buy them themselves.  I really hope that you will sign up to be an affiliate today.  Just follow the link below and join their program now!!!!

Happy Blogging!

Adorned From Above Link Party On Hold

I really love hosting the link party every week, but right now I have to put it on hold.  I said that I would have our featured bloggers this week, but I haven't been able to do that yet.  I'm so sorry.  Last week my neck went out again, and it has been fairly debilitating.  I may have been able to do this week's party, but unfortunately yesterday happened.

If you have been watching the news, you saw that we had some hail in Denver yesterday.  We were hit pretty badly.  Our house if going to need some major repairs and my car was pretty much destroyed and I've only had it for about a month.  So for right now I need to put the blog on hold and focus on getting everything fixed.  I'm going to miss all of you, and if I can get some time in there I may be able to get a post or two out.

Thank you so much for following me and I would really appreciate all of your prayers.  The house is fixable, but my neck definitely needs healing. Have a great week.
Much love to all of you.

Dear God Note 8

Adorned From Above / Dear God Note 8 / Dear God, You are so faithful. I pray for my family, and I am so grateful when you answer my prayers. When I see the fruition of my prayers, I know you are there. Today I just want to thank you. Debi

I wrote this and was looking for Bible verses about knowing God, but then I remembered there was a song, So I looked it up on Google and found it.

Here are a few of the words.

Cause I, I know You're there, I know You see me
You're the air I breathe, You are the ground beneath me
I know You're there, I know You hear me
I can find You anywhere

I hope that you enjoy the video.

Have a blessed day.

Jasmine Face Wash and Ingredients
Now on to my favorite natural Jasmine Face and Body Wash Recipe.

I started making this face wash in February, and it is a great all purpose face wash.  It even removes makeup.  I was looking for something simple and natural, since I have skin allergies.  I also wanted something that did not have chemicals.  I looked at many recipes, and eventually decided to just make something that would clean my face and still moisturize my skin a little. It also works great as a body wash.

Jasmine Natural Face and Body Wash

8 oz Dr. Bonner's Baby-Mild Castille Soap
8 oz distilled water
1 TB Almond oil
20 drops jasmine fragrance
10 drops geranium essential oil

Put all ingredients in a bowl and whisk together.  Then pour into a pump bottle.

Rinse face with water and then use 1 squirt of face wash and start washing face.   I wash my face for approximately 1 minute, concentrating around my nose, chin, and forehead, then rinse well.

You can use a toner after if you like to close your pores, and then moisturize.  You can use my Anti-Aging Moisturizer.  The link is below.

Hot Spiced Cider with Spice Syrup for Friday's Happy Hour

Today I am sharing a very simple Hot Spiced Cider Recipe made with my spice syrup recipe that I shared with all of you last Friday.  The minute I saw the recipe for spice syrup knew that I wanted to try it in a Hot Apple Cider recipe.  It did not let me down.  This hot spiced cider recipe could not taste any better, and it is so simple to make.  You don't have to cook it for hours, the syrup adds just the right amount of spice flavors to the cider and it's not too sweet.  It was actually perfect.  I know that all of you are going to love it too.  It will be a great fall and winter treat when you  and your families come in from outside.  It will certainly warm all of you up.

Hot Spiced Cider with Spice Syrup

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups of apple cider
1/4 cup spice syrup

Directions:

Put the apple cider in a pan or measuring cup.

Add the spice syrup and stir until combined.

Heat in a pan on the stove or in the microwave.  I heated mine for 1 minute in the microwave.

Makes 2 7 oz glasses of spiced cider.

I hope that you enjoy this recipe as we did.  I always love hearing from you.

Have a great weekend.

I just became an affiliate for this clothing company called SheInside.com, and I am pretty excited to share them with all of you.

I was shopping for lightweight sweaters about 2 weeks ago and found this company had really cute clothing, and they were very inexpensive.  I was not an affiliate for them at that time, and actually had never heard of them before.  I like the clothes so much that I decided I wanted to be an affiliate for them, and found that they were part of shareasale.com, so I didn't even have to work too hard at finding them.  I am pretty excited.

Here are a few of the items that I ordered.

White Long Sleeve Cross Rhinestone Knit Sweater
Isn't it cute.  I can't wait for a cool day to wear it.  It's out of stock, but they have tons of sweaters available.

I also ordered this sweater with the lace at the bottom.

White Long Sleeve Lace Knit Loose Sweater for $22.16

I am a sucker for lace.  I think this will look really cute with a pencil skirt and boots, or skinny jeans and flats.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce this company to all of you, and maybe get you thinking about some cute fall and winter clothes.  They have so much, and the prices are very reasonable.  I know you are going to love them as much as I do.

I have put the picture at the top of the post with a code for 25% off sweaters.  They also offer Free Shipping Worldwide at SheInside for orders over $30, so that should help also.

Have a great weekend, and have fun shopping.

Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Cinnamon Roll Waffles from Adorned From Above - Ingredients: Grands Cinnamon Rolls, Butter, Directions: Heat up your waffle iron. Using a pastry brush, brush some melted butter in the bottom of the waffle iron. Place your cinnamon roll in the center of the waffle iron and then brush the top of the cinnamon roll with butter. Push the top of the waffle iron down, and you may have to hold it in place for a minute, because the cinnamon roll will want to expand and push the top up. You want it to be flat. Cook it as you would a waffle and remove it when it is done. My waffle iron has a light that goes off when it is done. Remove the waffle from the waffle iron and brush with more melted butter. Then spread some of the cinnamon roll frosting on top of the waffle. I did this once I had the next waffle in the waffle iron. Repeat this process for the rest of the waffles. This makes 5 Cinnamon Roll Waffles with the Grands.

Today we have Cinnamon Roll Waffles for breakfast, and boy are they amazing.  I have been on a kick with my waffle iron lately and I am so excited to share some fun recipes with you.  I am also excited because I have never been a great waffle maker.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe just no interest, and probably because it takes longer then I care to take making waffles.  I think because I have to make the batter, and then I can only make one at a time.  I guess in some ways I'm kind of a lazy cook and love to find shortcuts.  This is definitely a shortcut.  I saw a picture on Pinterest a couple of months ago of Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, they looked delicious, but it looked like too much work.  Then I came up with the idea of using my waffle iron and Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls.  Now to me that is an easy recipe.  So here it is.

Blog Tour at Adorned From Above and Some of My Favorite Blogs and Bloggers

Welcome!!! I am so happy to be included in the Behind The Scenes Blog Tour that so many wonderful blogs are participating in.  It is really nice to have you joining the tour here today.

My sweet friend, Kim from Curtain Queen Creates, invited me to join the Blogland tour, and I was really honored to be asked to participate.  Kim and I became friends last spring, and she is one of my biggest cheerleaders and a fellow believer.  We have bonded over books and prayers and I really appreciate her support.

The other blogs that have been participating in the DIY Blog Tour are some of my favorite blogs.  I hope that you will take a look at some their tours also.  There is Diana at An Extraordinary Day and Mary Beth from Cupcakes and  Crinoline.

Here's how the DIY Blog Tour works:  I will answer four questions about myself and Adorned From Above, and then I will introduce some of my favorite bloggers.

What am I working on?
I normally have so many things in the works, that I have a hard time keeping up with it all.  I am probably a little ADD, since I normally have about 5 or 6 projects going at once.

I've recently been working on a new cross bracelet tutorial, which will appear as next Tuesday's post.  I love making jewelry, and this one is really pretty.  I have made one already and given it to a friend as a birthday gift, but I want one too. I am trying to decorate our new house in Florida, which is difficult, since I'm only there for about 4 days every other month.  I bought a chair for the living room when I was there in August, and I love the chair, but I need to change it a little.  It is a dark blue, not quite a navy, but in that color range.  It's legs are dark though and all of our furniture has a light and airy feel, so I am going to white wash the legs when I go back in October.  That of course will be turned into a post once it's done.

I am constantly working on new recipes, crafts, and decorating ideas.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I think all blogs are unique.  I see so many different ones at my party every week and love reading each one of them.  I think mine differs from others, because there is a huge evolving variety of content.  I don't fit into any one category.  When I started the blog, it was to share my beauty product recipes with my friends.  I also really wanted to share my faith with Bible Studies and Bible Verses.  It has evolved over the last few years to a little bit of everything that I enjoy doing.  I share craft ideas (such as my knitting and crochet patterns), party ideas (Charly's baby shower), recipes for food and drinks, jewelry, and most importantly Bible Studies, Bible verses, and my Dear God Notes.

Why do I write / create what I do?
One of the reasons that I write, is because I believe that we can do anything.  I don't believe in limits.  When someone says, "I can't do that, it would be too hard", my response is, "Yes you can!"  One of my friends wanted to landscape her backyard and said she couldn't afford to pay someone to do it.  My response was then let's do it ourselves, and we did.  Her husband was shocked.  I wanted my couch re upholstered a few years ago, so I did it for the blog.  It's not something I would want to do again, but I know I can if I need to.  I read other blogs, pinterest, and google anything that needs to be done in my house.  I figure I can do anything, and I want to encourage everyone out there to know that they can also.  The possibilities are unlimited, and there is so much information online anymore, that the sky is the limit.

How does my writing / creating process work?
I really read a lot.  Like I said above, I read books, look at Pinterest, read other blogs, look things up on google, and have tons of ideas in my head.   I will write a lot of them out in an idea book.

A lot of times, a project will stem from a need in our own home, or with something one of the kids need.  One such project, homemade non toxic toilet bowl cleaner came to life because of a concern my daughter-in-law had.  She has the girls help her with cleaning the toilets, but she puts the toilet bowl cleaner in the toilet, because she did not want them touching the chemicals.  I realized that I could make a cleaner that the girls could use themselves.  I then looked up different ideas online and came up with something that would be easy for kids to use and also non toxic.

I love cooking, so I always have different recipes in the works.  I like the idea of creating a meal that we have not had before, and then seeing it come to fruition.  I think my favorite meal right now was just this last week when I made my new recipe for Rigatoni Bolognese Stoup.

I think the creative process is different for each person.  I make lists and notes, and go from there.  I also have tons of stuff sitting around my house, so sometimes I just see something and run with it.  That can happen with a ball of yarn, a food item, or a picture on my computer.  I do schedule my blog posts ahead of time and I use that as a way to keep me focused.  Otherwise I would never get antyhing finished.  I don't necessarily stick with the schedule, they are kind of a guideline and very fluid, but right now I have about 25 to 30 blog posts sitting ready to be finished.

I am so happy to have shown you around Adorned From above today.  I can not thank you enough for stopping by and learning more about me.

Now it time to introduce you to some of my blogger friends.

-----Jessica from Plucky's Second Thoughts-----

At Plucky’s Second Thought Jess tries to post easy craft projects and recipes that anyone could accomplish. Yep, you don’t have to be Martha Stewart or Rachael Ray to attempt anything on her blog!  She has a great party every week also, and takes the time to comment on each and every post shared.

Here favorite post is her Christmas Mason Jars Tutorial

Next up, I would like to introduce you to:

Linda from Crafts A La Mode

That about sums it up, too. Crafts and ice cream, her two favorites. She has been sewing and crafting since she was 9 years old and she made her first apron on her mother's sewing machine at 10 years old. Her mother is an exceptional lady who, at 105 years old, is still keeping her own house and cooking. She had a sewing business up until last year and then she decided to retire. She cooks plenty for her family, though. Anyway, to get back to Linda.

Her mom baking cookies

When Linda first started blogging, she and her sister shared a blog together called Two Succulent Sisters, inspired by the book by SARK "Succulent Wild Woman". They thought that many people didn't "get" the name so they ended up changing it to Crafts a la Mode... The idea is "handmade" which they have always done. In fact, if Linda can make it, she would rather do that than buy something.. obviously it all can't be made by hand or we'd be back in pioneer days.  Her sister lost interest in the blog but Linda didn't. She's still passionate about sharing what they make and do and that includes fun foods, crafts of all kinds including sewing, and DIY home, and some garden fun also. She tries to keep it fun and light. There are enough other things in life that are a struggle. Let's have fun together!! Visit and follow on her Facebook page, too. There is lots of action over there, too. Oh, that's still under the name Two Succulent Sisters.

Dear God Note 7

Dear God Note 7 - Dear God, I pray to you all of the time, and I'm so grateful that you are there to listen to me. I am always in awe when you answer my prayers. There are days whem they are answered immediately, and sometimes it takes a lot longer. I know that when it takes longer, it's not because you are not there, it's because I'm asking for is something big, and someone's heart must be changed. You are bigger then all of us, and I know that when I pray, you listen. Thank you for the miracles that you perform in our lives everyday. It may seem hopeless at times, but when I rely on you, nothing is hopeless. Debi

Part of praying is believing in God.  When we believe and have hope, God answers our prayers.  They may not always be answered in the time frame that we want, or in the way we want, but he does answer.  One of the things I have to remember is God's will is what is important.

Have a blessed day.
